Classic Blue is the Color of the Year for 2020 – how will you implement it?
Pantone recently announced their Color of the Year for 2020 – Classic Blue – continuing to offer enduring inspiration for the world of trend and design.
Some considered their choice somewhat unimaginative this year. But upon further exploration, one can understand and appreciate Pantone’s ultimate decision.
“We are living in a time that requires trust and faith. It is this kind of constancy and confidence that is expressed by PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue, a solid and dependable blue hue we can always rely on,” says Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute.
“Imbued with a deep resonance, Classic Blue provides an anchoring foundation. A boundless blue evocative of the vast and infinite evening sky, Classic Blue encourages us to look beyond the obvious to expand our thinking; challenging us to think more deeply, increase our perspective and open the flow of communication,” Eiseman added.
Our homes are more than just two-by-fours and concrete. They’re our refuge from the chaotic world going on outside our doors. They’re deeply personal spaces which reflect our inner personas – a sanctuary in which color profoundly impacts our emotional well-being.
Because of the endearing role our homes play in our emotional lives, many homeowners find redecorating interior and exterior spaces no easy task.
Understanding the importance of color and design, some will spend months and even years researching design trends, visiting furniture galleries and painting small color swatches across every square inch of wall space – fearful of committing to such an important, personal decision.
From the editors of Pantone.com: “The Pantone Color of the Year selection process requires thoughtful consideration and trend analysis. To arrive at the selection each year, Pantone’s color experts at the Pantone Color Institute comb the world looking for new color influences.”
Therefore, the Pantone Color of the Year is not only valued by homeowners, but businesses looking to inspire customers with a confidant approach for redecorating. Influences of Classic Blue will begin to be seen in paint colors, furnishings and exterior designs to name but a few.
For garden centers, you can help leverage this design color trend by highlighting blue plants and shrubs with callouts to the Pantone Color of the Year. We’ve provided a list of seven plants with truly blue flowers you might want to consider. Also, stocking your location with garden ornaments, decorations and containers available in varying shades of blue wouldn’t be a bad idea.
The Pantone Color Institute forecasts trends and developing color palettes on a year-round basis, helping homeowners and businesses take some of the guesswork out of redecorating.
